So... Do You Come Here Often?

I've been noticing more comments lately, even on old entries, so I've been wondering where people are coming from: google, Houseblogs.net, family, friends and coworkers that are (silently) lurking around here, and who else? So I went looking for links... When I Googled "Baltimore Rowhouse" my blog comes up on the first page. Pretty cool! If you are reading this, who are you, where did you come from, and what brought you here? I'm curious to see how people are stumbling onto the blog.

As an aside, I've read many blog posts about people being able to tell which search terms are bringing hits to their site. How would I go about doing this?

For the newcomers, if you are curious for progress on the house, check out the tags on the bottom right side of the page. They describe categories of work on the house, and should help point you to the category that you'll find most useful. There are also links to other houseblogs I read, as well as design inspiration sites, like Apartment Therapy.com.

    ++

And since we're getting to know each other, I'm a libra. In case you were wondering.

I just started reading and haven't commented yet, but I think I followed a link from Blogher on over here. I'm in Baltimore (well county anyway) too :)

I found you through other blogs that I read. I (like jenn) live in a Baltimore Co. and it's cool to see a "local" blog.

As far as seeing how people find you.... Fred and I use Sitemeter to check out info like that.

Keep up the good blogging

Not sure how I came upon your blog, but now that I'm here, I think I'll stay a while :) You can use sitemeter to 'track' your blog...its a quick way to see who visited, from where. You can also use google analytics which gives you the same info plus more. You can create customized reports, see which 'google searches' brought people to your site, which of your posts is most popular etc.

Another thing to check out is: http://technorati.com/blogs/baltimorerowhouse.blogspot.com This shows you what other blogs have links or mentions of your blog.

I found you on blogtimore as I'm also a Baltimore City blogger. Your blog is great and it's been so fun to read! Keep it up!

and yeah, sitemeter works great for "how did you get here?"

I'm from Western Canada, and I found your blog through 'Ramblings of a Renovating Couple', by Wanderluster, who is just a couple comments above me!

Glad to see a few folks from the area, mixed in with some Canadians. Nice to meet you. :)

I think your site is great! I'm a young Baltimore City guy who, along with my fiance, has been renovating my rowhouse one room at a time. It was originally a section 8 rental, so you can imagine what we started with. I wish we had blogged our adventure like you-friends/family were constantly asking about progress. I found your site in a random google search for baltimore rowhouse design.

Good luck with the reno.

I found your site when I googled "Baltimore, Exposing Brick" and your site was the first one. I've been hooked ever since b/c it shows me that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

Jenny,

I searched for hours looking for good tutorials on exposing brick, but didn't find anything that explained the ordeal well. Hopefully the entries and comments to the posts tagged 'exposed brick' do a better job explaining the job. :)

BaltArch,

Glad to see another Baltimore rowhouse person on here. The houses have the possibility to have such character, but most rowhouses in this city are pretty boring. I'm trying to at least do something a bit more interesting...

Friends and family kept asking about progress, so updating this was much easier than random pics and emails to everyone explaining it. That and communities like houseblogs.net really provide inspiration and a breadth of knowlege to help you understand the projects you've never done before.

Since you house was section 8 I'm sure it was lovely when you moved in. :) Why not start a site and start a blog now? It is so nice to look back a few months and see the progress that's been made.

I can't remember which blog I found you through, but started reading and enjoyed it so much I decided to become a regular reader. Although I am not a restorer/renovater, I love reading house blogs. I have one of my own that is not house related, it's just something fun. I am a Michigander and a Scorpio!

Hi Sandy. I am also a native Michigander, and even went to U of M. Go Blue! :)

I just found you after you commented on my wife's Newlywed Diaries blog. We're down in Birmingham, AL...a long way from you. And I, as an engineer in the construction industry, liked your Microsoft Project schedule.

Corey said...

Hey Wes,

I lived in Mobile, AL from 2003-2005. I've always heard good things about Birmingham, but never stopped up there. :(

My project schedule scares me at times. I think I add more tasks that I complete.

Looking for row house furniture so that my third floor doesn't have to be furnished with ikea.
That's how I found you. My house was built in 1853, Fells Point. I love it. I'm home.

Corey said...

Hey Anony,

For furniture check out the links at the side. Arhaus in Harbor East is our favorite local place, and our favorite design inspiration is Apartment Therapy.

We are also using a lot of Ikea stuff, but trying to use it for non-critical pieces.

I searched for "Baltimore row houses" and your blog came up. I'm from Baltimore and moving back with my fiance this summer. We're going to live in Federal Hill and know we'll have lots of work to do to the house. I'm so glad you've made this blog. Thanks!

Thank you for leaving me my first comment on my shiney new blog. I have recently become addicted to houseblogs. So many people on the same quest..

I found you from a comment on my blog. I'm pretty sure you came to my blog via houseblogs.

If you really want to see search terms and stats you'd want to migrate away from blogger and use a standard web-server to host your blog.

Like my setup. Complete freedom to do whatever you'd like.

If you are really interested I could help. It is after all how I make my living.

I'm In NYC and buying a place in Jersey City that needs cosmetics renovations. I am looking for design ideas around subway tile for the kitchen and stumbled across your blog on google. I think I will start one of my own!

Jen - Best of luck, and look forward to seeing your blog. Can you send a link once you get it set up?

I found it from a link on the holy buck, fatman! site, which I found from a link on another site, which I found from a link on another site, and so on. This is great, though. Keep up the good work. The place looks great. B-more needs more people like you.
