Been a while since I've mentioned the bathroom, eh? Well the "improvements" have begun. Here is a preview.
Notice the lovely framing on the wet wall. I think a team of monkeys with hammers could have done a better job. This means that I will have to rip out this wall, which is shared with my closet. Boo for having to move my threads!
During the demo we had a fun time that included throwing a sink out of a second story window as well as breaking the waterline heading to the toilet, resulting in water gushing through the pendant lights in the kitchen. Fun times.

For bathroom vanities I found a couple I like better than ikea, and they are a good deal. I like Exhibit A & B, but they won't be available until mid-July. :-( That leaves exhibit C, which is looking swanky is available now and is similar in price to an ikea set-up. All sets include the vanity, mirror, shelves, countertops, sinks and even the faucets.

I like the vanity and sinks of C the best, but I like the mirrors and shelves of the others. Also, C only has one faucet! Hope it comes with 2. Are the sinks porcelain? Do you know the quality of the faucets and vanity? Would it be cost effective to think about two individual vanities with a tall shelving unit in between?
I hear the big TV is amazing. Good job.
Hugs & kisses to Loki.
You could also consider having a vanity made by a cabinet builder. This is what we are doing for our new bathroom and it is coming in at about half the price of the big stores. Haven't seen it yet so I can't vouch for the quality, but I've got my fingers crossed! Other than the price, it's also a good option because you can have it made to fit your specifications exactly, and it seems installation is included in the cost. These look great though!
momnipotent - I feel you on the mirrors of the A&B, and hence why I've stalled on ordering C. Vanity A came with sinks, so I hope I can get it on the others, but haven't checked yet. As for quality, I really don't know. Getting two vanities could work, but then I have to worry about matching the shelves in the middle, and not sure I want shelves in the middle since that wall is only 5'10" long.
The TV is nice, and Loki says hi. :-)
k&k - Any good cabinet makers you can recommend? The vanities above are running around $1550 shipped, so any idea of the budget if it were custom? I seriously am clueless.
You have good taste in bathroom fixtures and in dogs. Doesn't make up for your unfortunate taste in hockey teams, though. : )
I like exhibit A best, the shapes seem more 'graceful' to me.. but wow, it's going to be gorgeous when it's done!
I like 'A' the best as well. Good simple clean lines. I like the shelving in between the mirrors too. 'C''s mirrors and shelving seem less convenient for storage.
I saw these on the internets and would have chosen them for our baths but the sizes weren't right for us. I thought the price was amazing. Our 36" custom units cost $550 each from a local builder, and the silestone tops were that much again. Then the vessel sinks, faucets...
I like them all, it depends on the finished height and how much space you want on the countertop itself. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
We're working with McKenna Home Improvement. Like I said, can't quite recommend them with full confidence yet since I haven't seen the finished product. We asked them to make something like this (http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1233097&navCount=1) and they're doing it for $700, including installation, excluding corian top.
We're happy to be out of the Millrace and its paper-thin walls!
hey, where are those vanities from? i'm looking for vanities too and hoping to find something less expensive than lacava.
I actually found the vanities via ebay. The seller's name is 'theinteriorgalery' (with one L) on ebay. I ordered Exhibit A which is on backorder. I thought it's a pretty good deal...
You can also go to http://www.theinteriorgallery.com/ to see their stuff.
Hi! Your site is great! I stumbled across it through a home improvement network. We have a very similiar house. I am at www.dcrowhouse.blogspot.com. Small world. . .
Hi Ben - looks like you are making some progress. I had stopped by a while ago and asked about your stairs. I still haven't gotten to finishing that project here in Bawlmer. :-)
