Meet Wally

_MG_1147

After seeing Wall-E we knew that's what his name had to be. He's a five month old rottweiler (with maybe a splash of some other breed too) that we picked up from the SPCA. He is the most chill dog ever and follows the Queen around everywhere. We've already grown quite fond of him.

Oh man, he looks so happy and puppyish! I hope he's taking good care of you two.

Wally has big shoes to fill - but with those feet he should have no problem! He is so mellow, and seems like he had just been waiting to be part of your family. Even Cat and Zoey are thinking about liking him! Congratulations, you have a winner!

Oh, what a face! He's so perfect! Congrats to you and the Queen, and to Wally, of course! I know he's happy to have a family now!

We had looked at breeders, and other people had cautioned us about adopting again. However, we felt like going back to the SPCA was the right thing to do. They are so nice there, and you can tell how much they care about each individual animal. They were also extremely supportive during all the issues we went through with Loki, and after our difficult decision. The world needs more people like Larry and his coworkers at the SPCA. :)

"Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that one animal the world will be changed forever."

Quote I stole from Larry's email signature. Okay, I'll stop being sappy now :)

First - your new puppy is absolutely adorable. He looks like he could be a mischievous one though, so keep an eye on him.

Second - I love the flooring in the background of the puppy photo. Can you tell me what kind of tile that is? Is it some sort of slate? Is it sealed? I want to put a light grey tile in my bathroom but a lot of the slate I've seen is much darker when it's been sealed.

Thanks!

He's adorable!
It seems a lot of people have been adopting from the SPCA. i've gotten at least 4 or 5 people submit pictures of their pet for the b pets page who all did the same.
we even had a volunteer write a guest column about it.
definitely made me change my mind about where I'll be getting my next dog.

thanks for sharing the pics and story!

Very cute!! But a word of warning. One of my neighbors adopt a rott and the puppy was stolen out of their backyard. They did end up getting the dog back after they walked around the neighbor, asked questions, and revealed that one of them worked for the FBI, which I'm sure helped.

Rotts are one of the dogs that the no accounts around here are interested in, so take care.

Val, momnipotent, summer - He is a cutie and is adjusting very well. :-)

Larry, tante, marissa - Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.

Hey Jessica - The tile is ceramic, and I believe it is Nero by Crossville. You are seeing a lot of drywall (and other) dust on it, so it shouldn't appear as light as it is.

And he's just a wee bit mischievous. :-)

Anony - We don't let him out in the back unsupervised, so not worries there.

He's so sweet! He looks like a cuddler....which could come in useful, with what you two went through recently. :-(

I want to see lots of photos of this little guy!

I think Wally looks like Rott and Lab. What a cute little face. I just want to cuddle him! He may be mischevious, but I bet he'll be the best protector you've ever seen. Love him, teach him well, and give him a pat and a "good boy" from me. xxoo

Congrats on adopting! I'm glad you choose to give another homeless dog a loving home!

COngrats! I have a shelter dog and I feel that's the best way to get a dog. Of course, I like antiques, too! Reduce & re-use!

He already looks so tiny in these pics compared to now! He was weighed at the vet yesterday and gained almost 7 pounds in the time we have had him!

Hi there! Got to your blog through Harbor Hon (she's my sister) so I'm just another gal from Bawlmer that got shooshed through cyberspace and ended up in Oklahoma. *L* Wally is absolutely adorable! I'm sure he'll be your little darling and best friend as he grows. And all good luck on the renovations. I'm still hometown and think B'more rowhouses are the best!

I've been meaning to comment for a while-my wife and I went through an identical situation as you did with Loki. Sweet shelter dog with issues that were beyond our capacity to deal with. After reaching the end of our rope, we took a few months and got a rescue puppy. It's worked out great, and I'm sure Wally will do well with you. Congratulations.

Just stumbled across your blog, and love it. Had to comment on a)Wall-E and b) your floors. Both are beautiful.

We rescued our first Rottie this January (our neighbors were just going to take her to the pound)--and we've found that she's the biggest, sweetest, baby ever.

Enjoy your new addition.

Hi Erin - the floor tile is nero tile by crossvile. The size is 12" x 18". It is very dark, but all the renovation dust is making it look much lighter than it really is.
